Based on the video game of the same name, horror-comedy Werewolves Within has forest ranger Finn and a mail carrier, Cecily, doing their darnedest to survive after the lodge they're residing in is besieged by werewolves.

Despite fortifying the establishment, the lodgers find themselves being attacked by the furry beasts, proving that at least one of them is a werewolf. Paranoia skyrockets, resulting in everybody killing one another, until only Finn and Cecily remain. Due to Cecily's adorable demeanour and her blossoming bond with Finn, it's satisfying to see the endearing couple make it out alive, making it feel like a total betrayal when Finn figures out Cecily was the werewolf all along.

In the closing moments, Finn realises Cecily had strategically stirred bad blood between the citizens, so they'd kill one another or make it easier for her to pick them off. And even though Finn defeats her immediately after, it's still a bittersweet ending. 

Until this bombshell dropped, it looked like Werewolves Within was wrapping up with the two lovebirds ready to embrace. So, Cecily didn't just pull a fast one on Finn, but on the audience, too.
