20 Horror Movies That Made You Root For The Wrong Person
10. Christine
Directed by John Carpenter and adapted from Stephen King, Christine revolves around Arnie, an unpopular teen who purchases a 1958 Plymouth Fury, hoping it'll make him cool. Little does he know that the car, dubbed Christine, is alive and can warp the mind of the owner.
Straight off the bat, you can tell Arnie is the kind of person who wouldn't hurt a fly - at least, for the time being- and when his car grabs the attention of the popular girls at school, you hope everything works out for him. But this is a horror movie, so we know deep down that a happy outcome was never on the table.
Jealous of the attention Arnie receives, the local bullies demolish Christine. So, consumed by rage, Arnie vows to punish everyone who made his life a living hell.
Although we want the bullies to get their comeuppance, Arnie goes too far, mowing them down in Christine, grinding them to paste. As Christine continues to warp Arnie's mind, he goes after the friends who stuck with him through thick and thin.
Even though Arnie was being manipulated, there comes a turning point where you can't defend him anymore.
