5. Alien: Resurrection – X-Rated Xenomorph

One major complaint a lot of fans had with Alien: Resurrection was the weird-looking, xenomorph-human hybrid abomination spawned by the Alien Queen in the closing chapters of the movie.

You might remember that after its birth the Newborn, as it’s known amongst fans, commits matricide and instead forms a motherly bond with Ripley and shares a kind of touching but mostly gross moment with her – or as screenwriter Joss Whedon put it, ‘A withered, granny-lookin' Pumkinhead-kinda-thing makes out with Ripley’ – before she offs it.

There may have been a few more objections had director Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s intended look for the Newborn stayed intact. You see, he’d originally had the creature fitted with a quite prominent mix of male and female genitalia that left very little to the imagination though studio executives insisted the Newborn’s nether regions be edited out before Resurrection’s release.

Even Jeunet himself later concluded he’d gone a bit too far stating, ‘even for a Frenchman, it's too much’.
