20 Mind-Blowing Facts About Star Wars

17. In The Eighties, A Live-Action Ewok Film Was So Successful It Got A Sequel

Remember how much everybody loved the Ewoks? Yeah... Well, Lucaafilm certainly felt people did, evidenced by the fact that there were two made-for-TV films about the Ewoks, the stories of which were written by George Lucas himself. The first was Caravan Of Courage: An Ewok Adventure. The film centres on the Towani family, a family stranded on Endor after their space ship malfunctions and crashes. There are two children named Cindel and Mace and their parents, Jeremitt and Catarine. Jeremitt and Catarine are captured by a strange, threatening species known as the Gorax, leaving Cindel and Mace to team up with the Ewoks to try and rescue them. Surprisingly, the film actually did quite well, and spawned a sequel €“ Ewoks: The Battle For Endor (erm... that's not a title - that's just a summary of the latter half of Return Of The Jedi). The film centres on Cindel from the first film, and is basically just another excuse for more goofy sci-fi fighting.
