2023 has been a banner year for horror, delivering plenty of devilish delights such as Evil Dead Rise, Huesera: The Bone Woman, Influencer, Talk to Me, When Evil Lurks, In My Mother's Skin, and M3GAN. Thankfully, this trend of excellent modern horror looks set to continue through until 2024 and beyond.

Already, next year is shaping up to be another great 12 months for this murky corner of cinema. From January through until December, 2024 has countless horror pictures that have the potential to be something special. Of course, it might be that some of these end up being total duds and disappoint massively, but ahead of their release, the following 20 features have premises, casts, creative teams, or simply have been so long in the making, that horror hounds are salivating at what's on the way.

Some of these movies are completely fresh ideas, others are sequels, and there are even a couple of adaptations. Either way, all of them help to make 2024 a year that could well be another all-time for the horror genre.

With that in mind, then, here are 20 of the most hotly anticipated horror movies lined up for 2024.

There have been so many spins on the classic Frankenstein tale over the decades - obviously Frank Henenlotter's Frankenhooker being the absolute best - and 2024 will see a new spin on this in Lisa Frankenstein.

From Shrimp director Zelda Williams, and Juno and Jennifer's Body writer Diablo Cody, this horror-comedy is headlined by Freaky's Kathryn Newton as Lisa Swallows, a quirky goth teenager who reanimates a Victorian era corpse and embarks on a killing spree with the fella - all as the two spark up a romantic relationship.

Shaping up to be a standout of 2024's first quarter, Lisa Frankenstein is set for a 9 February release.
