In a most unlikely of announcements, it was revealed earlier this year that a sixth Scary Movie film is in development, which will presumably act as a franchise reboot.
Even though the spoof genre has basically died on the vine due to social media platforms like TikTok enabling creators to make their own superior, bite-sized film parodies at lighting speed, there's no denying the visibility of Scary Movie as a brand. And while we have no idea what will become of it, Miramax initially planned to have the new film shooting before the end of the year for a 2025 release.
With time running out for that timeframe, though, it's looking far more likely that Scary Movie shoots next year for a 2026 bow.
Though casting announcements have yet to be made, former Scream star Melissa Barrera said she's game to appear in it, so there you go.
