Netflix's Don't Look Up is writer-director Adam McKay's (The Big Short, Vice) latest attempt at a socially conscious political dramedy, this time veering into the lane of full-on black comedy satire.

The film follows two astronomers (Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence) who embark on a media tour to warn humanity about an impending comet which will annihilate Earth.

It seems that McKay's film will pass timely commentary on climate change and mankind's inability to save themselves, and it's easy to see how the filmmaker's punchy comedy style would vibe well with that throughline.

It also boasts a jaw-droppingly stacked supporting cast to rival The French Dispatch, including Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Timothee Chalamet, Himesh Patel, Matthew Perry, Tyler Perry, Melanie Lynskey, Ron Perlman, Chris Evans, Gina Gershon, Mark Rylance, Michael Chiklis, and, er, Ariana Grande.

Early test screenings have also reportedly gone down well, earmarking the film as a major awards contender moving forward.

Don't Look Up will release at an unspecified date later this year.
