4. The Mandalorian And Grogu

The Mandalorian Season 3
Disney

UK release date: 22nd May

Disney’s Star Wars offerings have been choppy ever since George Lucas bowed out near the beginning of the last decade and the House of Mouse stepped up production to make the property a content machine. Despite the ups and downs of the films and the many shows, one thing has always been reliable: The Mandalorian.

The story of bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) finding new purpose when he comes into contact with “Baby Yoda” puppet Grogu managed to capture the tone of the original trilogy while marrying it to the wider universe explored in the prequels. It gave us dependable excitement, believable relationships, and enough galaxy-striding action to entice die-hard fans and new viewers alike. But it’s been two and a half years since the show’s third season finale, and everyone was starting to worry it might not come back.

Well, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have been tinkering away behind the scenes and, at last, we are getting to see the iconic duo on the silver screen. Sci-fi legend Sigourney Weaver is on board, along with Zeb from Rebels (once again voiced by Steve Blum), and TV darling Jeremy Allen White will be playing Rotta the Hutt (you know, that football-looking thing from the Clone Wars movie). How it will all play out, and whether this is the final chapter in the Mandalorian’s story, is anyone’s guess, but we’re buckled in and ready to blast off to the galaxy far, far away one more time.
