20 Most Anticipated Sci-Fi Movies Arriving In 2026
13. Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die
UK release date: 20th February
Sam Rockwell skulked across our screen recently in a raincoat, a circuit board. and a beard, and asked us all to believe he’s from the future. Nope, he hasn’t gone full Joaquin Phoenix - this is the trailer for Gore Verbinski’s sci-fi action-comedy Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die.
Known only as the Man From the Future, Rockwell’s character attempts to recruit the patrons of an LA diner to fight a rogue artificial intelligence that causes disaster in the future. But is he really a time traveller or just a madman?
Again tapping into the public’s uncertainty around AI and the possibilities of humanity dooming itself via technology, the film feels timely and promises whipsmart dialogue from The Invention of Lying (2009) writer Matthew Robinson. Granted, Verbinski has a choppy track record, with few films in his oeuvre that anyone would call more than pure popcorn-munching fare, but there is a place for popcorn munching, and that’s the cinema.
Even if Good Luck doesn’t fully deliver on its high-concept hook, we have high hopes for it being a thoroughly enjoyable film all the same. And, honestly, when has Sam Rockwell not delivered?
