20 Most Iconic Villain Introductions In Movie History

7. Leatherface - The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Long before Michael Meyers and Freddy Krueger began scaring audiences witless there was another defining horror movie, one which introduced to horror fans death by power tools and a monstrous killer hiding behind a mask. One of the first slasher movies of all time, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre brought to the screen one of the most fearsome villains ever: Leatherface. Leatherface's arrival in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is abrupt and deeply unpleasant - after hapless teenager stumbles upon a house he's quickly bludgeoned to death by Leatherface, who proceeds to drag him into the basement where he cuts him up with a chainsaw in front of a young woman hanging from a meat hook - who's very much alive. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre's effectiveness as a horror film can be seen with its reputation as a bloody and gory film - in fact, director Tobe Hooper shows very little actual blood on screen; it's through implication and and overall unnerving mood that it really succeeds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPWK4hVgnwU
