20 Most Surprising Rotten Tomatoes Scores Of 2018
5. The 15:17 To Paris (24%)
With its release date being pushed out of 2017's awards season into early 2018, nobody was expecting grand things from Clint Eastwood's dramatisation of the 2015 Thalys train attack, but many still hoped for another solidly entertaining drama from the Oscar-winning filmmaker.
In fact, The 15:17 to Paris ended up the worst-reviewed film in Eastwood's near-50-year directing career, just barely edging out 1990's Charlie Sheen team-up The Rookie (29%).
Eastwood's foolish decision to have the real-life heroes play themselves delivered the knockout blow to an already mediocre movie about a thwarted terrorist attack which lasted mere minutes.
Virtually none of Eastwood's signature filmmaking brio is present here, instead resembling a generic docu-drama thrown together by any old hack.
At least Eastwood bounced back later in the year with the moderately well-received The Mule (66%), so it could've been worse.
