20 Most Surprising Rotten Tomatoes Scores Of 2018
4. Solo: A Star Wars Story (70%)
If you believed all the pre-release hubbub - as many of us did - Solo: A Star Wars Story was set to be a colossal trainwreck, so mangled by its various post-production woes that Disney was effectively sending it out to die.
And while Solo certainly doesn't rank among the better Star Wars movies, it did end up scoring a decent 70% rating, with an acceptable if hardly amazing 6.3 average score.
For a film that switched directors deep into production and re-shot up to 70% of the material, it's honestly impressive that it turned out as good as it did.
A familiar, at-times generic sci-fi action film overloaded with fan-service? Sure, but given the negativity ahead of its release, that was a positive result.
Sadly it wasn't enough to inspire much audience interest, and it became the first Star Wars film to tank at the box office.
