10. Jonathan Kent's Death - Man Of Steel
Man of Steel spends a lot of time exploring the relationship between Clark and his father Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), though many were left baffled by Jonathan's seemingly inevitable death scene.
Mid-way through the movie, Jonathan gets caught in the middle of a tornado, and just as Clark ventures to rescue him, Jonathsn raises his hand up, imploring Clark not to rescue him and risk revealing his identity to the world.
It's an interesting philosophical concept albeit not one that really plays out with any sort of emotional plausibility.
It's so colossally unlikely that anyone would be able to spot Clark rescuing Jonathan amid all the chaos that it really made no sense for Clark to just watch his father die rather than take the incredibly slight risk someone noticed him in the middle of a biblical storm.
A nice idea, but it just didn't quite work.
