The 1996 supernatural cult horror flick was confirmed to be receiving a belated follow-up in May 2016, though there were initially conflicting reports about whether or not it's a sequel, a reboot or a remake.

The most recent update from last year, however, calls the new Craft movie a remake, with Daniel Casey (10 Cloverfield Lane) currently rewriting director Leigh Janiak's (Honeymoon) script.

Is It A Good Idea?

As a concept, it's sound enough. The idea of four outcast teens dabbling in witchcraft is a simple, elemental idea that can be easily sold to a whole new generation of young women, and with the right script and talented female leads it could be a fun twist on the original.

It'd be surprising if it wasn't nudged closer to "soft reboot" territory by the time it actually came out - with arbitrary cameos from Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell, and Rachel True - but there's definitely room in the world for a milennial riff on this beloved cult gem.
