John Landis' Oscar-winning 1981 horror-comedy is set to get a remake under the most peculiar circumstances, with it being announced in August 2016 that the director's son, Max Landis (writer of Chronicle, American Ultra and Bright), would be serving as writer-director.

Last December Landis confirmed that he had completed the first draft of the script, so it's quite probable he'll be ready to go before the end of the year.

Is It A Good Idea?

Tough to say, really. Landis is a maddeningly inconsistent writer whose better ideas generally seem to stem from collaboration with talented filmmakers (case in point, Chronicle).

The idea of him writing and directing his own horror film could go one of two ways: it's either an incoherent mess or a ludicrously entertaining riot.

Either way, it'll probably be interesting to see and be anything but boring.
