20 Movie Sequels That Are Totally Flawless

18. The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

Blade Runner 2049 Ryan Gosling
New Line Cinema

The second part of Peter Jackson's immaculate adaptation of J.R.R Tolkien's classic fantasy novels, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers picks up directly after the events of Fellowship of the Ring, as the eponymous Fellowship are scattered and wounded in a world that's rapidly changing around them.

Featuring the official introduction of Andy Serkis' Gollum and a greater sense of scope than what came before, the film adds heaps of added uncertainty to Frodo and Sam's journey, whilst upping the action with the epic Battle of Helm's Deep and a cruel cliffhanger which beautifully sets up the trilogy's final chapter.

With its revelatory CGI, gloriously fun battle sequences and a finale none of the films in the series ever match again, The Two Towers represents the peak of Jackson's daring vision. Exciting and violent, it's blockbuster cinema at its absolute finest, and an all-timer of a fantasy epic.
