14. Godzilla Minus Zero
Godzilla Minus One was a global hit beyond anyone's expectations, grossing a mighty $116 million worldwide to become the most commercially successful Japanese Godzilla film, before winning the Best Visual Effects Oscar against mega-budget competition.
Naturally talk of a sequel swiftly emerged, and by late 2024 director Takashi Yamazaki was indeed confirmed to return for a follow-up, later confirmed to be titled Godzilla Minus Zero.
Though for a while it seemed like the sequel might take its time coming together, it actually began shooting this past August and is currently in the final stages of principal photography.
Godzilla Minus Zero is expected to release by late 2026, to honour an existing agreement between Toho and Legendary Pictures which prevents either studio from releasing a Godzilla movie in the same year as the other.
With Legendary's Godzilla x Kong: Supernova set to drop in March 2027, Godzilla Minus One needs to release next year or sit it out until 2028.
