20 Movie Villains Who Were Unbelievably Petty

You could argue that, along with the likes of Dumb and Dumber and even The Grinch, there is no movie that typifies Jim Carrey's trademark goofy comedy quite like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. It's quite surprising, then, just how dark things got in the 1994 flick.

There's animal cruelty, attempted murder, successful murder, and an unmitigated and hateful anger that led to such things. The root cause of this chain of events was the bitter grudge Ray Finkle (Sean Young) held against Dan Marino over a missed field goal in the Super Bowl.

Finkle had the easiest kick in the world lined up to win the big game for the Miami Dolphins, but missed. He spun out and blamed Dan Marino for how he held the ball, in spite of the entire football community agreeing that it was, in fact, just a bad kick.

Of course, the Super Bowl is huge, and to feel the weight of that must have been devastating. But to harbour the hate against Dan Marino for so long, and to kidnap a dolphin, kill an innocent man, and try to kill Marino himself in a fit of rage triggered by the Dolphins teaching an actual dolphin to kick a field goal, is more than a little over the top.
