15. Every Thing Will Be Fine
Release date: To be announced. What's it about? James Franco stars as Tomas in Every Thing Will Be Fine, a story about a man who runs over and kills a child and wrestles with the guilt over the next 12 years whilst attempting to understand the impact of the accident on the child's mother. Also starring Charlotte Gainsbourg and Rachel McAdams this sounds like a potentially hard-hitting character study. What makes it award-worthy? Wim Wenders has spent pretty much the last decade making documentaries and short films as well as pursuing his photography so this is a welcome return to narrative filmmaking for the German great. He's certainly one of Europe's most heavyweight directors and is no stranger to awards, so there's a good chance Every Thing Will Be Fine could see him taking to the podium to accept one this year.
