20 Must-See Billion Dollar Movies
12. Furious 7
Box Office Gross: $1,515,047,671 (#9 of All Time)
Since franchise star Paul Walker sadly passed away in the middle of filming it seemed inevitable that Furious 7, as the film had be altered and shot in a more complicated way, would be a complete mess. It's actually great.
An absolutely stunning action epic filled with jaw-dropping set-pieces, palm-sweating suspense and brilliant film-making, Furious 7 passes with flying colours on the action front but it gets even better than that. It's absolutely loaded with heartfelt storytelling and has some deeply moving scenes you'd never expect to see in such an OTT blockbuster. That being said, it's also bloody hilarious much of the time.
Best of all, it ends with a truly wonderful tribute to Paul Walker and in terms of franchises paying tribute to a deceased star, there probably isn't a better or more moving example of this anywhere.
On the whole, this is the second-best Fast and Furious movie (with 2011's Fast Five being in first place) and it's one of the greatest action movies of the 21st century so far.
