Predicted Critical Consensus: "Though it doesn't begin to make the most of its talented cast, Kong: Skull Island is nevertheless an entertaining comeback for the title character."

The marketing so far has made this one incredibly difficult to figure out. Most expected it would be a fairly serious monster movie in the vein of Gareth Edwards' Godzilla (considering the two films exist in the same universe), but the trailer in fact implies a much campier, sillier tone.

The visual effects and direction look a little uninspired here (especially that cringe-worthy pan around the helicopter and the giant, spider-like insects), but expect the cast to make it a decent enough blockbuster all the same.
