The last four Fast and the Furious movies have all scored positive reviews, marking a major critical turnaround for a franchise which was widely panned during its first four instalments.

Though this buddy spin-off action flick isn't likely to offer up much in the character or plot stakes, it will be girded by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham's hilarious two-hander, and also firm direction from the reliable David Leitch (Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2).

Some will express exhaustion with both the franchise and Johnson, but Hobbs & Shaw will mostly deliver the goods that fans expect.
