The minute you leave any building on the Croisette, you will be inundated with expectant ticket-hounds, their expectant faces etched into a permanent smile as they whisper "s'il vous plait" and gesture towards their homemade notice saying what film they want to get into.

And then, as soon as you shake your head - because you're not in the habit of picking up tickets for the hell of it when you have a press badge anyway - the smile drops entirely and they wander to the next potential saviour, leaving you feeling used and alone.

Or you would if someone else wasn't ignoring the fact that you'd just shaken your head quite obviously, thinking for some reason you're playing some sort of silent talent show where only the One will get your spare tickets.
