14. The Dreaded Yellow Badge

It's a wonderful feeling to be accredited for the first time: you feel like you're part of the elite of the cinema world. You're basically Roger Ebert.

And then you go and collect your badge, and it's yellow, like the highest percentage of your fellow attendees. That must be a good sign, right?

Nope. Much like for Green Lantern, yellow is the colour of disappointment in Cannes. You'll spend far more time queuing (often for screenings that will have been full for half an hour before they even considering telling you), getting sun-burnt and angrily watching Pink and White badges stroll in last minute without even queuing for two hours.

But at least you're not an orange badge.
