20 Recent Horror Movies WAY Better Than Expected
9. Luc Besson's Dracula
You couldn't really be blamed for being a bit Dracula'd out right now, considering in the last three years alone we've had Renfield, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Nosferatu, Radu Jude's Dracula, and now another Dracula film from Luc Besson.
"Enough, already," you might think, especially with this latest one being helmed by controversy magnet Besson.
But in respect to the film itself, Besson's Dracula does ultimately earn its keep, offering up another visually stunning take headlined by a strong performance from the ever underappreciated Caleb Landry Jones.
Though it doesn't measure up to Robert Eggers' magnificent Nosferatu or even Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula, on its own terms it's a worthy adaptation crafted with skill that teases out the errant humanity of its title character.
Yet it's also now surely beyond time for Hollywood and the film industry as a whole to cool it with the Dracula movies for, say, 20 years.
