2. Kombucha
Kombucha is a film about a tech company which strongly encourages its employees to drink the complimentary kombucha - kombucha which ultimately causes a unique and eventually grotesque bond to form between co-workers.
It's an utterly daft premise, and considering it was adapted by Jake Myers from his own 2023 short of the same name, it would've been easy for such a wild concept to totally fall apart at feature length.
Furthermore, despite screening at major genre festivals like Frightfest and Filmquest, Kombucha still only received a handful of critical reviews before being quietly dumped on streaming back in December.
But horror fans craving something very different and very out-there would do well to give Kombucha a shot.
It wears its low budget on its sleeve but nevertheless delivers an intriguingly twisted satire of modern workplace culture complete with knowing performances and some wild effects work.
Above all else, you'll never look at employer freebies the same way again.
