Megan Is Missing is of the most controversial horror films of the last 15 years, with the found footage flick becoming something of a viral hit on TikTok in 2020, even though its uncompromising, leering depictions of sexual assault ultimately make it feel more like an exercise in crass exploitation.

But credit where it's due - filmmaker Michael Goi cooks up one hell of a nerve-jangling finale, when kidnapper Josh (Dean Waite) forces protagonist Amy (Amber Perkins) to open a barrel, revealing the decomposing corpse of her missing bestie Megan (Rachel Quinn) inside.

We only catch a fleeting glimpse of Megan's corpse, but her piercing eyes will linger in your mind for days, weeks, even years after the end credits roll. 

And if that's not bleak enough, the movie ends with Josh forcing Amy into the same barrel, which he then buries in the forest, the implication being that he gets away with both killings.
