7. Rosie O'Donnell Tried Hard To Play Molly Weasley

The American comedian was such a fan of Rowlings' book series that she offered to play Molly Weasley without pay, which Warner Bros ultimately passed on. Rumour has it Robin Williams offered a similar deal, but was likewise shunned. Another fan, Drew Barrymore had a cameo in the initial draft, but it never made it into the film. Anna Friel lobbied to for the role of Nymphadora Tonks, which ultimately went to Game Of Thrones star Natalia Tena. There was also a fan-backed campaign to have future Superman Henry Cavill cast as Cedric Diggory, but it failed in favour of another actor on the verge of a mega-franchise break-out performance in Robert Pattinson.
