20 Things Horror Movies NEED To Stop Doing

5. Remaking GOOD Horror Movies

Few genres are more amenable to remakes than horror, because it's easy for a popular horror film to be retold for a new generation, its iconic story reinterpreted in a different style and tone that becomes something else entirely.

And of course, there's the inevitability of Hollywood just listlessly rehashing hits for a younger crowd to make some easy money.

But here's an idea - let's quit remaking great horror films like Nosferatu and start remaking bad or divisive ones that nevertheless had an interesting idea at their core.

The recent remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night basically had the right approach, taking a messy but fun premise and giving it a different spin - one which most critics agree is a fair improvement over the polarising original.

It's tough to be particularly interested in the many upcoming horror remakes of bonafide classics, but take something weird and unwieldy, give it to a hungry rising genre filmmaker, and you just might get a gem out of it.
