The X-Men series isn't shy of having verbal confrontations between its heroes and Magneto. Charles Xavier has had many philosophical debates with the antagonist of the series. However, it was the unexpected twist in the first X-Men film that really showed the power and malice that Magneto possesses.

Confronting Wolverine on a train, Magneto freezes him completely rigid. It's here that Magneto reveals his true plan. For the majority of the film we are led to believe that Wolverine is the key in Magneto's plan. But when Magneto utters the line "whoever said I wanted you?" the dynamic shifts drastically.

In a superb twist it is revealed that Magneto is really searching for Rogue, a young girl who's abilities are key to his plan. The way this scene is played makes it one of the more emotional and shocking scenes in the series, while also cementing Ian McKellen as one of the greatest actors in the franchise.
