Men are no strangers to doubling for women onscreen and, in Catwoman, Halle Berry was doubled by Hawaiian stuntman, Nito Larioza.

A native of Wahiawa, Larioza had auditioned to perform stunt work on Sam Raimi's 2002 film, Spider-Man, but had lost out to a friend. However, the training that he had engaged in was useful when he auditioned to develop a distinctive fighting style for Halle Berry in Catwoman.

Working in close conjunction with choreographer, Anne Fletcher; stunt co-ordinator, Steve Davison; and fight co-ordinator, Mike Gunther, Nito Larioza focused on imbuing Berry's movements with cat-like grace. He even doubled for her throughout the film.

Larioza has continued in the stunt trade, including appearing in well-known productions such as Iron Man, Avatar, Inception, and James Gunn's The Suicide Squad (which is currently due to be released in 2021).

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
