20 Things You Didn't Know About Netflix
4. The Company Is Expanding Into The Gaming Business
While Netflix is focused on movies and TV shows at its core, those aren't the only two forms of entertainment that the company wishes to pursue.
In fact, they've already released video games based on Stranger Things and The Dark Crystal, and going forward, the company is looking to develop more projects like this, meaning that we could be seeing books, comics, and even more games, content that delves even deeper into the worlds of some of its most popular shows.
"We’re looking for opportunities to extend the universe of these shows and films into other mediums,” said Chris Lee, the director of interactive games at Netflix, during a 2019 E3 panel. “To me, it was really obvious to try to do that into video games.”
We'll certainly be seeing more Stranger Things games, but other than that, there's no telling what we might get. Could Netflix somehow work out a deal to get a Henry Cavill-led Witcher game made? That seems unlikely, but given the show's success, you can be damn sure that they're going to exploit that brand name as much as they possibly can - hell, they've already greenlit an animated movie.
