20 Things You Didn't Know About The Good, The Bad And The Ugly
1. A Treatment For An Official Sequel Was Drawn Up But Never Produced
Some time after The Good, The Bad And The Ugly's completion, the film's screenwriter Luciano Vincenzoni attempted to continue the story by writing a treatment for a sequel entitled "Il Buono, Il Brutto, Il Cattivo n. 2" which translates to pretty much what you'd expect.
The premise was to set the film years down the line, with Tuco (presumably ancient by now), hunting down Blondie's grandson for the remainder of the first film's gold. Clint Eastwood even expressed an interest in acting as a narrator for the film.
However, Leone ultimately vetoed the idea, as he did not want the original film's title or characters reused in any way. Even though the premise is interesting in itself, its existence may well have watered down a film which has become one of cinema's greatest hallmarks.
