20 Things You Didn't Know About The Predator
9. Predators And Aliens Are Now Inexorably Linked
Aliens and Predators first met in a 1989 Dark Horse comic. Since then, other comics, video games, toys, and movies have pitted the two powerhouses against each other repeatedly.
The most common theme of these stories is that the Predators, some time in the distant past, encountered Xenomorphs and realized they were the ultimate test of a Predator's skill. Xenomorph eggs or Queens were captured and used to seed different planets, including Earth, with Aliens, that would then be hunted for sport.
A Predator became Blooded when he killed his or her first Xenomorph. The Xeno's blood would be used to mark the helmet and forehead of the successful hunter. Humans who successfully killed a Xenomorph would be accorded the same rite of passage (like Lex Woods in Alien vs Predator.)
The two species considered the other mortal enemies, and encountering each other inevitably resulted in combat to the death. In the event a Predator succumbed to a Xenomorph, the Predator would activate their self-destruct device instead of letting themselves be taken and implanted with a Xeno embryo.
If a Predator was implanted by a Facehugger, the resulting creature was a mix of Alien and Predator features, what was called a Predalien. Predaliens had the mandibles, dreadlocks, and yellow skin of a Predator, and the spiked tail, shiny dome, and inner jaw of a Xenomorph. Predaliens are a match for even the toughest, strongest Predators.
