20 Things You Didn't Know About The Predator

12. A Teenage Predator Has Spent Some Time Hanging Out In Riverdale

In 2015, the editors of the Archie comic line approached Dark Horse asking if they could use the Predator for a crossover. After the Dark Horse folks presumably stopped giggling, they said yes, and what resulted was a surprisingly solid, surprisingly dark story of Archie and the gang squaring off against one of the galaxy's most fearsome warriors.

The story starts in Costa Rica, where Archie and his pals are spending spring break. Meanwhile, a Predator who's landed nearby watches Betty and Veronica argue and, drawn by their conflict (as well as a crush on Betty,) follows them back to Riverdale.

What follows is a bloody trail of destruction across town, with the Predator killing armed guards, soldiers, Dilton, Jughead, and, unbelievably, Archie, leaving only Betty and Veronica to fend off the Predator. The ending sets up a second series, which released its first issue in July 2019.

Seeing the violence and carnage unfold in the traditional Archie Comics style is jarring, but once you get past your childhood dying a bit, the story is a blast, and the series was well-received both critically and in sales.

If you're at all a fan of Predator stories, this is a must-read.
