20 Things You Somehow Missed In Collateral
5. Vincent's One Display Of Genuine Warmth Highlights How Cruel He Truly Is
Jada Pinkett-Smith has a small but pivotal role in Collateral. She plays Annie Farell, a federal prosecutor who strikes up a warm rapport with Max near the beginning of the film.
After he drops her at her office, the unwitting cab driver picks up Vincent and kicks off the movie's events. The third act reveals the reason why Vincent was at Annie's office was because the latter was researching the former before going for the kill.
While this reveal is hard to miss, it does put Vincent's suggestion that Max should make the most of his life (i.e reach out to Annie after the ordeal is over) in a sinister light (as he is going to kill both her and Max) and goes on to demonstrate just how callous the hitman really is.
