Call it a bit of foreshadowing, but Donny's fate might have something to do with his bowling game.
Notorious for getting strike after strike at the alley, the only time he doesn't knock them all down in one roll is immediately before the big fight with the Nihilists.
Donny can't seem to catch a break, and this horrible slip-up on his part practically seals his fate right there in the bowling alley. With Walter only bowling once and the Dude never bowling at all, there's obviously plenty of significance to be drawn from this seemingly slight detail.
