19. A Mind-Bending Cameo From A Fellow Filmmaker
If you look closely during the interpretive dance scene, you can spot filmmaker Charlie Kaufman in the audience. Kaufman's films often employ a similar sense of humor to the Coen brothers', so there's no doubt an admiration shared between them.
At the time of The Big Lebowski's release, Kaufman was just an up-and-comer himself — His breakout film, Being John Malkovich, was still a year away. Oddly enough, there's an interpretive dance sequence in his movie, too.
It's possible he was influenced by what he saw on set (but then again, maybe not — Kaufman's script for Being John Malkovich supposedly floated around Hollywood for years before going into production).
