Despite the MCU taking place in a decidedly fantastical universe/multiverse, there have been a number of occassions where scientists have provided some input on the films' otherworldly elements. An example of this is in 2012's The Avengers, where scholars from the Science and Entertainment Exchange were consulted on the nature of the Tesseract.

Following this lead, Taika Waititi consulted theoretical physicist Dr. Clifford johnson on some of Thor; Ragnarok's more fantastical facets. He provided various insights on the picture's depiction of space travel as well as other tidbits that took from the classic Thor comics.

While he did not give exact details (due to the NDA he signed before the film's release), it can be assumed he contributed to the scene where Thor, Valkyrie and Bruce Banner were discussing how they would navigate the cosmic phenomenon known as the Devil's Anus.
