3. Hard Rain

You may be wondering what Hard Rain, the biggest box office bomb of 1998 that's currently sitting on a 29% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is doing so high on this list. Well, the research may not be entirely conclusive but the short answer is that its f*cking awesome.

One of the litany of high-concept actioners that sprung up during the mid-to-late 90s, it may not be held in the same high regard as Speed, The Rock, Air Force One, Con Air or Face/Off but it isn't far off. Featuring incredible stunt work, set-pieces laced with tension and increasingly high stakes, Hard Rain is an efficiently directed and solidly acted B-movie with an A-list budget.

Re-watched today, the movie fits comfortably among the best the 90s had to offer in what was one of the action genre's finest decades in terms of sheer quality.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
