The news that found footage masterpiece The Blair Witch Project was getting a reboot didn't exactly set the world on fire, many simply asking, "Why?" 

After all, despite the first film's enormous success, neither follow-up managed to recapture its sublimely creepy style.

Easy though it is to scoff at yet another attempt to make Blair Witch happen, there are at least some promising names involved.

For one, the reboot will be directed by Dylan Clark, a tremendously talented young filmmaker whose outstanding short film Portrait of God went viral back in 2022 - and is getting its own live-action adaptation from Clark, produced by Jordan Peele and Sam Raimi.

Clark is evidently a hungry young filmmaker who just might bring the sort of fresh vision to Blair Witch it so desperately needs. 

And on top of that, the reboot was recently confirmed to have signed original stars Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams alongside original directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez as executive producers, suggesting the film will have a more hands-on engagement with its 1999 predecessor.

Yes, there are many ways that a new Blair Witch can go wrong, but at least it seems like those in charge just might be doing something interesting with it.
