11. Aquaman Finds Out His Mother Is Lost - Aquaman

Man of Steel Dumb
Warner Bros.

This one is a bit of an anomaly, since the writing and directing in this scene - in which a teenage Aquaman (Kekoa Kekumano) is told by his mentor Vulko (an under-used Willem Dafoe) that his mother Atlanta (Nicole Kidman) was apparently sacrificed to some sea monsters when it was discovered she'd had a son with a human - is absolutely fine.

Also, Willem Dafoe does solid work too, so what's the issue? Well, two words: Kekoa Kekumano.

Look, no-one likes to criticise a young actor, but there's no denying that Kekumano's performance in this scene is completely awful. His line delivery is ghastly and he turns what should've been quite a powerful scene into an awkward cringe-fest. As such, a potentially important moment in Aquaman's character arc is completely ruined.
