8. Paranormal Activity 4
The rapidly diminishing franchise released it's poorest and flattest effort yet in 2012, proving that everything has a shelf life. With the first couple of films proving successful and interesting in their groundbreaking approach to the horror genre, the surprise factor and originality has now gone, leaving only average scares and a fairly bland story to entertain viewers who have seen it all before. The problem with this film is that it's completely unnecessary. The creators had to do something new to make a fourth film justifiable, but completely fail to capture what made the earlier instalments such a good watch, instead making a forgettable, disappointing and unfulfilling shock flick that didn't warrant the time, money or effort of going to see it, let alone making it.
7. A Thousand Words
Eddie Murphy continues his horrifying downward spiral with another repulsive and unfunny comedy that is staggeringly poor in its execution. A terribly conceived story which involves Murphy not being able to speak as every word he says brings him closer to dying(Yep.), is set in a ridiculously cheesy and unrealistic movie world that screams banal at you throughout and is quite simply relentless in it's awfulness. There's not really a lot more to say about this. Some things are so bad they defy description, and A Thousand Words is probably one of them. It's a painful mess. A comedic abomination. A pitiful shock. It's also scored exactly 0% from critics on the film review website rotten tomatoes. All you need to know.
