13. Happy Death Day 2U - The Killer Reveal

Captain Marvel Nick Fury Goose

This nonsensical sequel was not only an overstuffed and convoluted retread of the original film, but it also largely abandoned the horror elements and the masked killer faded into irrelevance, making this a horror film with a fatal lack of actual horror.

The film takes place in a multiverse dimension where a different killer is stalking Tree (Jessica Rothe). The first film had a very good killer reveal but here, it's the most insultingly lazy choice of killer possible. The murderer is Dr Gregory Butler; in the first film Lori (the killer) was jealous over Tree's affair with Butler and went after her because of that, while this time Butler is trying to kill Tree to remove evidence of the affair.

In other words, this went down the most obvious, uninteresting possible route regarding the identity of its killer, which is a sad reminder of just how little the film cared about being remotely suspenseful or scary. There were many other characters in the film that could've been chosen as the killer and pretty much any of them would've been a better choice than this.
