20 Worst Movies Of 2022 (So Far)

11. Alice

After Antebellum bungled similar themes back in 2020, there was hope that Krystin Ver Linden's filmmaking debut Alice would succeed where it failed.

But alas, this crime thriller about an enslaved Black woman (Keke Palmer) who escapes a 19th-century plantation only to discover that the year is actually 1973, is an abject mess.

Failing to reconcile its serious attempts to address racism with its more comedic homages to blaxploitation cinema, Alice can't decide what type of film it actually wants to be and so is unlikely to fully satisfy anyone.

Despite solid work from Keke Palmer and Common, this feels bloated at even 100 minutes, and much like Antebellum evokes the vibe of a rejected Black Mirror script.
