20 Worst Movies Of 2022 (So Far)
6. The 355
Who knew that giving Simon Kinberg, the director of Dark Phoenix, a $75 million budget for a globe-trotting ensemble action film could've been a bad idea?
The 355 criminally squanders its evidently enthusiastic cast - led by Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, Fan Bingbing, Diane Kruger, and Lupita Nyong'o - in a snooze-inducingly generic spy thriller defined by expository writing and ineptly shot action sequences.
Wildly overlong at 124 minutes while listlessly working through the over-familiar espionage movie beats, this is a film everybody wanted to like as the potential start of a new action thriller franchise, but the fundamentals were just abjectly awful.
Dumped in cinemas in the second week of January, The 355 tanked at the box office, grossing just $27 million worldwide and annihilating any chance of a sequel. Thank God.
