20 Incredible Recent Movies That FLOPPED

Legendary indie filmmaker Gregg Araki admittedly hasn't delivered a single box office hit over his near-four-decade career, but his first film in over a decade, I Want Your Sex, is unquestionably his best work since 2004's Mysterious Skin.

And with the erotic comedy thriller being led by Olivia Wilde, who is fresh of the success of her dramedy The Invite, it seemed like this could be a modest breakout for the director.

But it ended up grossing just $2.2 million globally - a not entirely unsurprising result considering Araki's box office track record and its rather limited release, but a shame considering its quality.

Though Araki tends to keep his budgets low, this one clearly wasn't in micro-budget territory with the likes of Wilde, Cooper Hoffman, Johnny Knoxville, Daveed Diggs, and Charli XCX among its cast.

Hopefully this performance won't leave us waiting another 12 years for a new Araki joint, though.
