22. Ryan Reynolds

Before he donned the red mask for Deadpool's solo movie, Ryan Reynolds had tried twice to nail a superhero role - both of which didn't win over many fans. He first played a mutilated version of Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine before taking on the part of Hal Jordan in DC's Green Lantern. He's also played a part in another Marvel property: Blade: Trinity.

One of the many villains in the overpopulated X-Men: The Last Stand was Michael Murphy as Warren Worthington II, the businessman whose company developed the mutant cure (he memorably tried to force his son Angel to take it). Fourteen years previously, Murphy had appeared in a less antagonistic role as the Mayor of Gotham in Batman Returns.
