25 Film Sequels To Watch Out For In 2014

21. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Plot: While struggling to adapt with modern society, Steve Rogers finds himself in a battle against a Soviet agent named The Winter Soldier. I'm sure I am not alone in my anticipation for the next Captain America movie. After all, The Avengers helped to boost the success of both Iron Man and Thor: The Dark World last year. Consider this: Iron Man 2 came out in 2010 and grossed over $620 million worldwide; Iron Man 3 came out last May and hauled in over $1.2 billion. The first Thor movie, which had a 2011 release, made close to $450 million worldwide. Thor: The Dark World? Close to $630 million. There's no reason why the next Captain American film would be unable to follow suit. Taking over the director chair for The Winter Soldier are The Russo brothers. Their last feature film was 2006's You, Me, and Dupree. Other than that, they have primarily worked in television, directing episodes of Arrested Development and Community, for example. The previous director, Joe Johnston, had a lot more experience working with blockbusters so it will be interesting to see what the Russos bring to the Captain America sequel. U.S. Release Date: April 4th
