25 Films That Intentionally Spoil Other Films

There are a whole host of rom-coms from the late '90s and early 2000s that have not aged well, and Adam Sandler is in many of them. But there is at least one gem from the era - provided you can overlook Rob Schneider’s tanned-up, weed-smoking, many-childrened Hawaiian caricature Ula.

Peter Segal’s 50 First Dates puts Sandler’s Henry Roth on a collision course with Drew Barrymore’s Lucy Whitmore, a sweet and kind art teacher who has a form of amnesia that prevents her from storing new memories or progressing beyond the day of the car crash that damaged her. Needless to say, Henry can’t leave well alone and does anything he can to garner her attention and win her heart, under the watchful eye of Lucy’s father Marlin (Blake Clark).

Part of the rigorous daily routine implemented by Marlin includes the family watching The Sixth Sense (1999), the gift Lucy gave him on the day of her accident. Thus, we join them for their screening, and Lucy exclaims at the end that she can't believe Bruce Willis was a ghost the whole time.

There are so many films and shows that have spoiled The Sixth Sense, but this is one of the few that actually earns it, as the punchline - that Lucy can never remember one of the biggest spoilers in modern cinema, no matter how many times her family is made to watch it - is both funny and heartbreaking.
